8:30 - 10:30 a.m. - Estate Planning in a Post-Election Year Speakers: Benjamin Siracusa Hillman, Esq. and Joyce M. Hillis, Esq.
Panelists summarize proposals for tax law changes that would affect estate planning, including potential tax legislation impacting estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax rules and exemptions, capital gains taxes, and related income tax matters. Although it appears that changes to transfer tax rules and immediate changes to exemptions are on hold for the moment, the proposals could come back at any time, and panelists review potential strategies to employ before the rules change or exemption amounts decline. Through the use of scenarios, panelists highlight themes from conversations with clients as we endeavor to plan in the face of uncertainty. Finally, panelists review developments in relevant caselaw from the past couple of years.10:30 - 10:45 a.m. - Break
