Presenters include Supreme Court and Circuit Court judges; experienced prosecutors and members of the criminal defense bar; family law attorneys; appellate attorneys; victim advocates; and coordinators from the DOVE program and the judicial branch’s alternative dispute resolution program. The day-long event covers all aspects of handling both sides of a domestic violence case, including: the law of domestic violence and stalking; things to know about having a domestic violence survivor as a client; appellate litigation; how to manage a family law case when domestic violence is involved; the intersection between criminal cases and civil restraining order cases; the DOVE program; and the ethical issues that can arise in domestic violence cases.
