The United States Supreme Court’s recent holding in United States v. Windsor that Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional provides many tax and estate planning opportunities for same-sex couples that did not previously exist. This program will focus on the constitutional issues raised by Windsor, the impact of the Windsor decision on a variety of federal laws and regulations, prospective planning options for same-sex couples and retrospective tax reporting that may now be available.
